Valentine Votives

Happy Friday!

Do you remember Monday I told you I had some Valentine candles to share? Well here they are.
Last week-end I stopped into Bath & Body Works. If you look closely inside the glass votive you can see a small candle. They were selling these for $1.50 and they gave you the glass votive for it. I bought three on Saturday and went back on Sunday, as it was the last day of the sale and bought 10 more. I can see these for every occasion.

Obviously they are all decorated with vinyl. The cricut cartridge used for the cuts was Sweethearts. This is more of a wedding cartridge but worked great cause I didn't have any Valentine cartridges. I know....hard to imagine right? :) The characters are all cut at 2" and the wording was about 1 1/2".
I used a small punch for the tiny hearts.

BTW the candles are scent flavored. The green one is mint chocolate. Makes me want to eat it rather than smell it.

You will be seeing more of these little gems done up. I'm already thinking spring, with some flowers on the votive and maybe some rhinestones or pearls in the centre of the flowers. Once I get going the possibilities are endless.

Enjoy your week-end. We're experiencing warmer than usual temperatures for this time of the year so I think I'll try and do something outside.

Spooky Treats

Hi There,

Glad to be back again this week. Did you see all those "tag" ideas from last week over at Creative Critterz Imagination? You're going to want to drop in for a visit all this week too. . . Goodie Bags is our theme.
I went with the test tube holder. Directions can be found here. These small test tubes purchased at a Children's Learning Store and I also bought larger ones at Michaels in the Martha Stewart section. For the larger test tube containers my cardstock was cut 4 1/2" x 12".

I printed my own batty paper on my Imagine for just one of the containers, the rest is purchased pattern paper. Can you identify the cartridges? The polka dot orange is from Bubblegum Stripes. I wanted to make the paper more Halloween so used Cricut Craft Room to place bats from Happy Hauntings onto the pattern paper.
CCR I believe is now open to everyone to try. All the bugs have not been entirely worked through yet but if you want to give it a try and are patient it can do some pretty neat stuff. I've posted a video at the end explaining how to create your paper.
Scalloped circle from Easter 2010 and I used a circle punch for the others.
This is what the piece of cardstock looked liked after I was done printing.
Still trying to get the hang of doing videos.
For more test tube ideas please visit me over at Ink-spirations.
Have a great Monday!

Forever

Hello,
Having a great time in Toronto. Kristen and I will be heading out early Saturday morning to compete in the City Chase. We are pumped for the event.

This is a frame I made for Kristen and Joel before I left home. Wooden frame is from Michaels. Covered in pattern paper from Hobby Lobby, sanded and distressed with Tim Holtz inks(either Linen or Old Paper).
The words and flourishes cut from Wall Decor. First cut using Tim Holtz grunge paper and then cut from matching pattern paper.
The flower in the corner cut from the Wedding cartridge at 2" (3 times) and 1.7" (3 times).
Can't loiter as I need my sleep for tomorrows big event. lol
Hope to see you soon.

PS I'm really challenged on laptop computers...the cursor is never where I want it....seems to have a mind of it's own.

ABC Robotz

Good Morning...

Hope everyone celebrated Valentine's Day with someone they love. Whether this was your spouse, children, grandbabies (soon) or your pet.

Here is the long awaited Robotz. I spent many hours cutting and piecing these together. They are all cut with the Robotz cricut cartridges at 5". The backside is full magnet and all the cut pieces are vinyl.

For the magnet I went to Walmart and purchased magnetic sheets that you would use to cover air vents.(BTW this is the same magnets I used to store my Spellbinders on). They come with a white side and black magnet on the other. Two to a package (5" x 12") for about $3.00. I did have one sheet of actual cricut magnet which was about the same weight and looked the same but the sheet was 12 x 12 and not on sale $10.00.

When cutting this with the Cricut you do need a deep blade housing and I set the cut at 4 times. Worked perfectly. The Cricut sure got a workout.

One thing I would do differently next time. I would take my black vinyl (the shadow on each robot) and actually adhere it to my magnet before I cut the shadow. That would eliminate an extra cut and lining it up onto the magnet. Yeah...didn't think of that till I was assembling. Little late!

Hope Xavier likes his new Alphabet Friends!

Today is house cleaning day. I need to find a bed for Xavier to sleep on. Too big for a play pen anymore. He's sleeps in a big boy bed now!

Dream

Happy Valentine's Day!

Hope you enjoy the new blog look...my daughter designed the header for me....thanks bunches!

If you were checking out my blog yesterday morning you might have seen quite a few different looks. My desktop computer is outdated, to say the least, and the only way I could see the changes I was making to the blog was to save and then look. Finally went to the laptop....turns out on a more updated computer I'm able to preview before I save and the colors are totally different between the two computers. I contacted my DD so she could check her computer and tell me which one was appearing.  Gremlins in my computer....

This was another project I did at the Cricut booth. The brown 12 x 12 piece of cardstock is mounted on a 12 x 12 canvas. Wall Decor was the cartridge used in this layout. The stamps are from My Pink Stamper. The owner of My Pink Stamper gave us a set of stamps. We also received a cricut DVD with projects and info, I still haven't watch this, and a book called "Cricut Cutting Guide."  The DVD and cutting guide were created by Megan Gravener. I have used this book a few times now and it's great.  This book provides the setting guides for many, many different brands of  pattern paper, cardstock, vinyl, transparencies, etc. Changing the setting on your Cricut when cutting different thickness, and texture will make a really big difference on the overall cleanness of the cut.

I absolutely love these flowers and so easy. One day this week I hope to do a tutorial on them. A few pearls placed around on the scallops add to the overall look.

An update on my robot saga....I have all 26 robots cut and pieced together. I still have to complete cutting out the magnetic shadow backs and put the letters of the alphabets on them but I'm now confident I will have it completed before Xavier arrives. Now I just need to find a metal board....

Last Post 2010

Morning...

I think this will be my last post for 2010. I will be starting the New Year with a Blog Hop...so stay tuned for that.

This is same idea as I showed yesterday but used a different frame. This frame is also produced by 7 Gypsies. The openings on this are trading card size and uniform. Made it a little easier to find pictures to fit.

The KMB are my daughters initials and were cut from Blackletter on the Cricut. I used grungepaper to cut the letters as well as the skull and the word love. I can't remember exactly everything I used to  create the colors.

I do believe I cut the grungepaper and then embossed it with the Cuttlebug for texture. Followed that with heat embossing with black embossing powder. Then sanded the image slightly, applied some more veramark and then rubbed antique gold pearl-ex over top. The versamark is so the pearl-ex will stick.

You will also notice the "Harry Potter" paper behind the words and images. lol
I think this is a wrap for this year.

Thank you to all of you who take the time to stop and visit.

Have a safe and Happy New Year!

Yvonne
