Faux Linen

This was one the cards we made at Julie's workshop on Monday night. The background behind the flowers is called Faux Linen. You start by taking a piece of glossy cardstock and sanding it with sandpaper. Sand back and forth from left to right and then change direction and sand from top to bottom. Basically you are removing the glossy look from the cardstock by scratching the surface. Now you are ready to ink up your brayer and if you don't have one try using a sponge to rub color over the cardstock. In the sample I inked my brayer with blush blossom and rolled over the glossy cardstock. I liked the two-tone browns for the two step flowers. Give this technique a try but you do need glossy paper to have it work properly.
I'll be back tomorrow hopefully with a 3-D item ...if I can get the picture off of the camera. I can see I've taken the picture but it doesn't want to download to the computer.

Supplies Used:
Stamps: SU Blossoms Abound
Inks: Blush Blossom, Close to Cocoa, Chocolate Chip
Paper: Blush Blossom, Close to Cocoa, Glossy
Chocolate Chip ribbon, Ticket Corner Punch

Oh So Pink...

Well I was going to post a 3-D projects but...the pictures that I took of it seem to have gone missing. I think DH took my camera with the pictures in it or I only dreamt that I took them. Anyway, I was doing a workshop on Monday night and there is always a theme swap. This is the card I made to exchange and the theme was to use a stamp set that you had never used before. I went one step further and used a Cuttlebug folder that I hadn't used before. I had just bought that one, it hadn't been sitting around for months like the stamps.
I choose lots of pink for this card as I used H2O's to watercolor the flowers first and then I had to match the cardstock. The circles over the flower images were made with the circle nestabilities. I first punched a whole in the Pink Passion cardstock and then ran it through the Cuttlebug so the centre would be open.

Tomorrow a scrapbook page or 3-D item.

Supplies Used:
Stamps: SU Fancy Flexible Phrases & Oh, So Lovely
Cardstock: Pink Passion, Pixie Pink, Naturals White, Bazzill Green
Ink: Basic Black
H2O watercolors, organdy ribbon, ticket corner punch, round tab punch
Birds & Swirls embossing folder and circle nestabilities

New Nestabilities!

This was fun making a round card. I tried out my new Nesatabilities to do this. Thanks Lisa for delivering! It is a top fold card so just the small straight area at the top of the card is joined. I used two layers of scallop circles and two sizes of regular circles. The dragonfly is embossed and then colored in using H2O's.

Stamps: Dragonfly (PSX) & Fancy Flexible Phrases (SU)
Ink: Taken with Teal & Versamark
Paper: Taken with Teal, Basic Black, Shimmery White
Black Embossing Powder, Circle Nestabilities, Twinkling H2O's

Things That Glitter....

Home today. . . .DH is out golfing and I'm crafting. I went and surveyed my rubber stamps and decided there were some sets that hadn't seen ink yet for one reason or another! I started with the stamp that had flowers coming out of the envelope. Stamped it once on white cardstock and then four other times on scraps of white cardstock. Colored in the flowers with markers and then cut out individual flowers so I could make it dimensional. Decided that wasn't enough so I clear embossed the flowers and then embossed them a second time with iridescent ice so they would have a sparkly finish. Applied a small pearl to the centre of each flower (did I mention I was at Michael's this morning?) The heart is done the same way as the flowers and the envelope was watercolored with grey and then I used a clear glaze pen to give the envelope a shiny look. The background paper is done using the Cuttlebug.

The pink and purple tones look a little off in the scan but do match better in real life. Clicking on the image will give you a better look at the glitter.

Masculine Birthday

Last night I taught "Technique Night" at the Cutting Garden. Always a lot of fun! Techniques we played with were Glitter Window, Saran Wrap, Core'dinations Paper with the Cuttlebug, and for a finish we made the Criss Cross card. Mustn't forget the little sour cream container with the candy. Yum. Okay I ate too many toffees. I do have a sweet tooth!

The card for today is a masculine theme. I probably struggle the most making a manly card. The reason for that is I don't have nearly as many stamps that are suitable for men and I have to limit the amount of cutsy embellishments.

This card actually opens where the black means the green and ivory, so the front is about one inch smaller than the back of the card. The images on the front are done in a collage style. Ink the stamp and repeat stamping until there is no more ink left and then ink again. Images overlap, are upside down, and side ways.

Supplies Used: All SU
Stamps: Sincere Salutations, Office Ephemera
Inks: Basic Black, True Thyme, Versamark
Paper: Basic Black, Confetti Vanilla, True Thyme
Gold Embossing Powder

I've been Cuttlebugged!

A couple months ago I got hooked on the Cuttlebug. I wasn't going to let myself purchase yet another machine but it was so darn cute and of course the rest is history. Numerous embossing folders and more recently the Nestabilities have found their way into my crafting room.

Products Used:
Cardstock: SU Very Vanilla, Basic Black, Wild Wasabi
Inks: Wild Wasabi, Basic Black
Embossing folder - Swiss Dots
Nestabilities - Large Square

Hello Everyone

I finally decided I needed to join the blogging community. It took a little longer than I expected to get everything set up the way I think I want it. If anybody has suggestions about content or the look of my blog feel free to leave a comment.
I'm hoping to post on a regular basis and most posts will include card or scrapbook samples. Just whatever I'm working on at the time. Looking forward to sharing my passion for papercrafts with you.
