Happy New Year Blog Hop

Happy New Year!

Glad you're here to join in the Cricut Blog Hop. So if you've been following the sequence you arrived from Ms_Dee's Blog. Once you're done here you can move along to TiffysMom's Blog. If you stopped by for a visit with me and would like to visit the other participating blogs you can start at Crafty Scentiments's Blog and check out all the great projects. If you make it to the end of this post there's some blog candy!

The theme of the Blog Hop was "New Year's" and the project had to be made with the Cricut. To me New Years means resolutions...each year I have good intentions of creating a scrapbook calendar for the grandparents but  December usually comes along and I haven't made one month let alone twelve. This year I will make one each month. I decided to start with February as I am awaiting photos of  my Grandson playing in the snow. There has been a lack of snow so far this year as well as he's not really sure about the cold, white stuff. Daddy will need to show him how to make snowmen and snowangels!

I love the vintage valentine pattern paper. To go with the paper I photoshopped the picture to be more of a pencil sketch.

Photograph prior to photoshop.

I used the Gypsy to design and cut everything.

Cartridges Used on above page:
Doodlecharms
Big heart - 7.5": high
Small Heart - 1" high
Lyrical Letters
What a Sweet:! - 1" high
Smiley Cards
Happy Heart - 2" high

The calendar page is made using "Designer Calendar".
Calendar Grid - 10" wide and used the "hide contours" feature to eliminate the boxes that aren't needed.
Red Hearts - 1" high
Numbers - .6" high
Be Mine - 1.7" high - "hide contour" feature to eliminate the heart,.
February - 1.35" height
Days of the Week - .6 high

Love - Home Decor cartridge used 1" high
Valentine boy images - stamped and colored with Copics. Retired Vintage Valentines - Stampin' Up.

For sticking with me to the end here's a little blog candy. Leave a comment telling me your New Years resolution or what you did on New Year's Eve. Draw for the prize January 3rd.

If you'd like to be coming a follower or subscribe to my blog you can do so on the sidebar but it's not necessary to enter. I do have more Cricut projects to reveal in the next couple weeks.

Thanks for stopping by and a Happy and Healthy New Year to all of you!

Yvonne

I don't have a Gypsy, but like the layouts you just did. My N. Years was spent dancing, eating and playing darts. My N. Years resolution-lose weight and have more time to prepare upcoming events, example: Valentine cards so I won't get behind like I did for the Christmas rush on cards. Have a super, duper 2011 and keep the cards coming. Enjoy them immensely. Marlene K.

I love the LO with the pencil drawing of the photo. I forget to use some of these features for my LOs. The calendar is nice too.
I spent New Years...first thing in the morning by taking my DIL to the airport since my son is stationed at Ft. Polk and wasn't able to come home over the holidays so she flew down to spend the weekend/New Years with him. (If you want excitement try driving in NY on New Years Eve!) Then I went shopping for a spice rack in a gazillion stores (never finding one I wanted) and then came home to a nice quiet dinner with my DH. We stayed at home and watched TV...watched the ball drop in Time Square then went to bed laughing about how "old" we got as it was past our bedtime.
Happy New Year to you and yours!

First off the effect you did with the picture was great!! And I am sure they will LOVE the calendar.
My resolutions are 1-do project every month using my stash 2-stay focused on exercise 3-wear out my new Imagine and Gypsy LOL, I just received both products and I intend on using them to full capacity this year!!
New years eve I spent with family watching a movie then watch ball drop, all the while I was starting Christmas cards for 2011 LOL.

LOVE the picture.

Well, since I don't make resolutions, I will tell you what I did last night. My husband and I decided to stay in and watch Oklahoma State University play Gonzaga in basketball. My mother texted me that they were going to dinner. We met them there. We then went by my parents so I could look at the apron that she is making and put a coat of modge podge on the necklaces that we are gonna start making. Mom and I then decided to look for bails and ribbon necklaces - didn't have much luck. After watching the bb game and my OSU Cowboys lose we came home.

Hope you had a great night and a wonderful new year.

Great layouts! I spent New Year's Eve designing wall art for my craft room on my gypsy while my husband watched car auctions on TV. I would like to resolve to start to like car auctions but I think I better stick to something I really like, like making cards before the night before they are needed. lol
