Canada Day

Good Morning,

Hope you had a good week-end. I did! Happy Birthday wishes to my DH! We're now the same age for another 360 days! My big brothers birthday today too!

Went to the movies last night and saw "Shrek"! I've always liked all the Shrek movies. I enjoyed it but it wasn't the best of the three. You still have to love Donkey and Puss as well. lol

I'm ahead this year on my Canada Day page! Deborah had sent me some pattern paper to work with. Click on Fargo Cat Shops to see more detail of the paper. The paper is double-sided. The side shown here has maple leafs on it and at the top (I covered it up) it says Vancouver with a maple leaf in white. The other side is maple leafs with the word Vancouver through out the page. Check back on Thursday cause I'll show you what I've done with that. It's not quite finished yet.

The top black strip is 1 3/4" wide. I used the Cricut and cut the words Canada Day out of the black and cut the words again out of a sparkly white. The letters now inlay to the black. The red maple leafs are a punch.  The fireworks are from "Lyrical Letters" cartridge. Cut once at 3.5 and once at 2.75.  The maple leaf is from Designer Calendar. The white and red shapes are cut at 10". George and Basic shapes used to cut the circles. The black layer was cut using the shadow feature on the Designer Calendar.  Once I have some photos I can journal in the left hand corner.

HO HO HO

Good Morning.

First off this is going to be a quick post. Kevin's plane has just landed so I can hold up in my craft room today.

You're thinking more Christmas cards....well apparently I'm not the only one who is thinking Christmas. I went to Hobby Lobby yesterday for a piece of paper...(I bought a scrapbook for Xavier too. 1/2 price and I've been looking at it waiting for a sale...back to topic). While wandering the isles I look once, twice, no way...they are putting out the Christmas decorations. It's still seven months away. Oh yes, I notice all the Halloween stuff is already out.

The HO HO HO is one of those Bazzill - Just the edge strips. This one was in a green color. I embossed it with red tinsel EP and it turned out beautiful.

The stocking and snowflakes are a spellbinders die. They were cut out of plain black cardstock and then I spritzed them with vanilla Smooch. Gorgeous!

There you go...one more down!

My First Wheels! Now I'm Lightening McQueen!

Again this layout was done for Sketches!{by tamara}. The challenge this week was to alter your journalling by color, size, font. Check out the rest of the design teams contributions!

I love this layout. This is Xavier (of course) on his first birthday. Mommy & Daddy bought him a new ride-on toy. I used my cricut for the majority of the layout. The borders on the banner are actually Bazzills - Half the edges. They are 6" long but fit seamlessly together for a 12 x 12 layout.

The race track I designed with my Gypsy. The race car...that was a lot of work. Firstly, those Disney cartridges that have lots of layers. They are really only designed for Wall Decor. The car was cut at 6" and you could not go any smaller as the small layer pieces are just too tiny. Even at that size it was a challenge.

I thought the journalling was cute. Just trying to ready Adam for the teenage years. lol Especially #1 & #3. The "Does It Do Stairs". He'll probably try that with a bike....

Every different color you see is a separate piece.

If you're wondering ... I spend hours on one layout. Some people would say.."She needs a life." I enjoy crafting so much I don't know what I would do if I didn't have it.

Always enjoy your comments and I loved reading yesterday about your wildlife encounters.

Do something for yourself today...

even it it's just for a few minutes....

and don't feel guilty for it....

Grunge Roses & Donna Salazar Newspaper

Good Morning...

Hope everyone celebrated a great Father's Day. Kevin is still in Nigeria so I celebrated by going to the local coffee shop and having an ice tea and a very tasty cinnamon crunch bagel. I made it into brunch. It's a sweet bagel. Yum.

Must tell you though...before that around 6:30 a.m. I went for my usual walk. I always see deer in the yards. I stopped and counted 17 deer on the front of one lawn. More than half of those were little Bambi's. Every Mom must have had twins. So cute ... they still have their spots. We live on the edge of a state park. These deer know they are safe...they stand and watch you as you walk by. Some home owners put out bowls of food...looks like metal dog dishes. lol I keep saying I'm going to take my camera but never do.

Saturday I went to an all day crop. I got some pages partly done but what I want to put on them is always left at home...I think I like to just scrapbook where I have everything...unless I was going to go there with somebody then it would be more social. Well I better get to today's project....

This is a wall hanging. In January when I was at CHA it was one of the classes I took. Well part of it anyway. You'll notice the flowers and the bird cage are part of Tim Holtz's latest collection of dies. The flower die is "Tattered Florals". I also used Donna Salazar's Crafty Chronicle to cover my grungepaper. Cardstock could be used instead of grungepaper. This Crafty Chronicle is an 8-page newspaper that is scrapbooking safe. For the $2.25 that Deborah sells it for it is a great deal. First off you need to read the paper cause it has some great articles. Click on this link to see a short video about  the paper. She explains how to cut it apart and what different pieces can be used for. Anybody who wants to try a little vintage or collage or anything else it is great. Also she has her own version of paper flowers.

I've decided to hang it in my craft room. I don't have anything up yet and I think it's high time I started decorating.

To alter the flowers I used Tim Holtz Distress Inks. The rose was Wild Honey, Victorian Velvet and a touch of Barn Door. The flower behind the rose was Broken China, Weathered Wood and a touch of Wild Honey.Also this flower I cut in half and then stapled the base so it would tuck underneath nicely. Around the outside of the vanilla mat - Old Paper. Around the edge of the 12 x 12 - Wild Honey & a touch of Vintage.

I spritzed the flowers with Vanilla Smooch so they glimmer a bit.

My rose centre could have been a little tighter but I dug out my directions after I completed that part of the project. Also don't forget to add color to the back of the flower pieces as well as the front. Another part of the directions I missed and it was much more time consuming after the fact. Hmmmm!

Smooch Along The Way

 Hi There,

Boy am I late in posting. My intentions were good. I started the process this morning and the upload was taking so long I walked away....I just forgot to come back. lol

Just sharing the same House Mouse image as Monday's but I used different colors and card designs.

I used Co-ordination paper and the cricut to cut out the holly and sand the edges. There are foam dimensionals to keep them raised up. Some red pearls represent the berries.

Unfortunately I can't get a good really good shot of the cuttlebugged background. It is co-ordination paper too but just a light green and when it is sanded it is a very subtle difference. I sprayed Vanilla Smooch over it after the paper was embossed with the snowflake folder. It left a nice shimmery effect.

A close up of the adorable Mice. I used the same colors for the mice on Monday and just changed up the color of the socks.

Challenge #124-Card Sketch

Hey There,

Tuesday again! Time for another sketch or challenge from Sketches!{by tamara}.
We had to follow a card sketch. Take a peak over at the above link and see the sketch for yourself and while you're there check out the rest of the design team.

I have a few people graduating this year so decided I better get busy on some cards. This one is nice and simple...go for a boy or anybody for that matter but it's not too cutesy. I forgot to take a pic of the inside but I did create a pocket to hold a gift card/money/cheque.

I'm busy in scrapbook mode today. I spent yesterday reading a book. Couldn't put it down...it's finished now. I've been getting my fingers dirty with glimmer mist, smooch and Muddpuddles. That's a new product I got last week in Arlington. hehe Unfortunately I won't be able to share the page with you till next month....I know such a long time to wait but the page part of my design team projects.

On an exciting note next Tuesday I do have a super dupper page to share. Think "Lightening McQueen"!

Little House Mouse Christmas

 Good Morning,

I know what you're thinking...Christmas ....get a life! If I don't start my cards early I won't have enough made by the time November comes.

Come on...they're so cute...and the colors...they are gorgeous...even if I say so myself. Wouldn't you like this cute little guy in your mailbox?

Firstly the cute little stamp is called "Stocking Full of Love" and can be found at Fargocat Shops. There are a few other Christmas ones over there too that catch my eye. I must admit I didn't make just one of these little guys I actually have three other completely different designs and colors combos that I'll share over the next few days just to give you some creative ideas.

This was very quick to put together. Let's start with the background. Cuttlebug folder "swiss dots" on white cardstock. Wait . . . do you see the shimmer on that cardstock. I spritzed it with Vanilla Smooch and the sentiment got a spritz too. Those snowflakes are my favorite element. They are a 12" strip called "Bazzill Just The Edge Strip - Christmas". The package I have has some green and some white strips. There's ornament, stocking, trees, snowflakes, holly, Christmas lights, snowmen to mention a few. You could use them as a border on a scrapbook page or cut them apart for cards. Remember I said they were green or white....lookie mine are blue... I spritzed them with Glimmer Mist - Riptide and then put a little pearl in the centre. you could use a brad, eyelet, button. Added some glitter to the snow around the sock. Do you see the pretty blue paper? That is Bazzill Bling and it has just the right sheen to add to that overall holiday glitz! Nestabilities to cut the image and layer.
